TWO YOUNG THAIS WELCOMED AT THE SAVOIE-LÉMAN HOTEL SCHOOL IN ORDER TO DISCOVER FRENCH CULINARY ART

Sirikul and Watchara completed their 2-year course in hospitality-catering at the Hospitality and Catering Training Center (HCTC) in Mae Sot (Thailande), created by the IECD in 2009. They were selected to take part in an one-month immersive experience at the  Savoie-Léman Hotel School in Thonon-les-Bains, which is twinned with their school. The training days allowed the young Thais to learn French preparation and serving techniques. They were also able to visit the kitchens of prestigious hotels such as the Hotel Royal in Évian. For a first trip outside of their country, this experience proved to be very enriching on a professional level.

Charitable actions for the HCTC at the Savoie-Léman Hotel School

The Savoie-Léman Hotel School is an important partner for the HCTC. In February 2019, driven by its student association Humanithaï, the French hotel school organized a charitable dinner by Chefs at the Hotel Royal in Évian for the third year running. Supported in the preparation of their dishes by 4 famous chefs, the students served 160 guests.  The money collected helped to finance exchanges between the French school and the HCTC in Mae Sot. Part of the money collected was also allocated to funding equipment for the Thai school.

An insight into the evening and the interview of

the President of the IECD,

Marie-José Nadal (in French):

A stay for exchanging the professional techniques of two nationalities

About a dozen French students from the Savoie-Léman Hotel School visited Thailand to discover its culinary specialties.  Hosted at the HCTC in Mae Sot, the students were able to follow local cookery classes, some of which were organized by the Thai students. For example, the students learned the local technique for cutting fruit and vegetables. Sharing was also on the program because the French students were able to introduce their Thai peers to wines and cake-making.
