The IECD has been actively participating in the local development of Syria since August 2008 with various, well-designed activities that include, but are not limited to: vocational training for vulnerable youth, entrepreneurship training & seed funding grants, soft skills, life skills, and capacity building for the local community. In addition to other social development projects that empower the youth and other vulnerable individuals (IDPS and local community) to become future actors in their communities.

The IECD plans all its projects with the concept of ‘from learning to earning’ in mind. By supporting beneficiaries to enter the labor market with confidence and skills to improve their livelihoods.

With the Syrian Crisis reaching its 12^th year in a context of insecurity and a deteriorating economic situation, children, adolescents and young people face a highly threatened social and economic future. Despite the difficulties encountered, the IECD confirms its determination to maintain its goals and actions and to continue to support the most vulnerable individuals in Syria. Through a local team, the actions of the IECD radiate throughout the territory as a pioneer INGO that provides vocational training, apprenticeship and entrepreneurship training. IECD main objective in Syria is to help the most vulnerable individuals learn a profession and to access employment to improve their livelihood, their psychological wellbeing, resilience and their personal development.

This is achieved by the IECD’s presence is 6 governorates with 8 projects currently providing services to the most vulnerable individuals. The IECD’s mandate in Syria continues to be relevant even in the face of natural disasters such as the Feb.6 earthquake that hit Syria and had disastrous consequences.
