    A HOTEL TRAINING CENTRE

Sponsor the training of young hospitality and catering professionals in Madagascar and Thailand!

Behind every apron, a dream comes to life. In Mae Sot, Thailand, and Fianarantsoa, Madagascar, young people from marginalised communities dream of a better future. They dream of learning a trade, earning a decent living and making their families proud. But without training, these dreams often remain out of reach.

To change this reality, two training centres have been set up in the heart of these regions: La Rizière in the highlands of Madagascar and the HCTC on the Thai-Burmese border. In these centres, young people learn by doing, in training restaurants, guided by committed trainers. Cooking, service, accommodation, reception: every skill they learn brings them a little closer to a job, a stable and decent life and a new sense of pride.

Since 2011, more than 900 lives have been transformed. And with your sponsorship, other young people will be able to follow in their footsteps.

Give them this opportunity. Sponsor a training course and change lives.

In Madagascar, the hotel and restaurant sector is booming, driven by the country’s appeal to tourists. Opportunities are there, as are job offers. But one problem remains: there is a shortage of skilled workers. Companies are struggling to recruit.

In Fianarantsoa, in the island’s highlands, hundreds of young people dream of a better professional future but remain on the sidelines of the labour market due to a lack of vocational training.

La Rizière hotel training centre was created to address this twofold challenge.

Since 2013, it has trained more than 400 young people in vulnerable situations, in partnership with the Collège Saint-François Xavier. Its courses, recognised by the Malagasy government, are focused on excellence and directly linked to the needs of businesses. As a result, 80% of graduates find quality employment upon graduation.

Four courses of excellence are offered:

  • CAP Cook (2 years)
  • CAP Waiter-Bartender (2 years)
  • CFF Team Leader in Accommodation (10 months)
  • BTS Receptionist (2 years)

Students learn their trade in real-life conditions in a training hotel and restaurant, which gives them their first experience while helping to finance the centre.

On the border between Thailand and Myanmar, the Karen and other minority communities face limited access to education and stable employment. In this region with strong tourism potential, the hospitality and catering sector is experiencing a shortage of skilled workers, while local young people lack opportunities to develop the necessary skills.

To break this cycle of exclusion, the Hospitality & Catering Training Centre (HCTC) was created in partnership with the local association Tak Border Child Assistance Foundation.

Since 2011, more than 500 vulnerable young people have been trained in catering and baking in an environment that respects their culture and focuses on sustainable inclusion and integration.

Two key programmes:

  • An 18-month technical training course (cooking, service, pastry making) followed by a six-month internship in leading hotels
  • Short, modular training courses, co-designed with local NGOs, with a focus on employability through the development of life skills and preparation for employment.

Both programmes are based on The Passport, a training restaurant where young people learn in real-life conditions. This practical model promotes independence, self-confidence and rapid professionalisation.

Sponsor a young person’s education, help them find a job, and transform their life. Immerse yourself in the heart of La Rizière and HCTC centres!
