The crisis has created significant economic damage, notably in terms of poverty and unemployment. For the past ten years, the IECD has empowered Syrian youth through vocational training and support toward professional integration.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<div  class='hr av-2n2a25s-de2fc1bb09f23a2b9418eb957405be7e hr-short  avia-builder-el-9  el_after_av_textblock  el_before_av_textblock  hr-center'><span class='hr-inner '><span class=\"hr-inner-style\"><\/span><\/span><\/div><br \/>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" id=\"style-css-av-t8v9zk-414fc0b43558ae90b9fef81a4239a996\">\n#top .av_textblock_section.av-t8v9zk-414fc0b43558ae90b9fef81a4239a996 .avia_textblock{\ncolor:#000000;\n}\n<\/style>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-t8v9zk-414fc0b43558ae90b9fef81a4239a996 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock av_inherit_color'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">By 2017, the Syrian civil war had caused the economy to shrink by over 60% compared to its initial level in 2010.<sup>1<\/sup><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\"><\/a> The conflict has also cost the country $ 1.2 trillion in the estimate.<sup>2<\/sup><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\"><\/a> Even in a scenario that war ended today, the economic burden will continue to grow due to the future reconstruction costs. It offers professional training in four youth centers in Sweida, Latakia, Der Al-Zor, and Jaramana (Rural Damascus). The centers have welcomed over 10,000 beneficiaries from all over Syria, many of them from minority groups. With over 20 specialties, the vocational training courses seek to equip young people with technical and soft skills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Through its BRIDGES program (Building and Reinforcing Integration through Development of Guidance, Employment, and Skills), the IECD aims to cultivate the entrepreneurship spirit among the Syrian youth. The program provides the participants with entrepreneurship training and seed funding. Everyone is encouraged to participate and to formulate solutions for their everyday community problems. 270 young people have received seed funding from the BRIDGES project.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<div  class='hr av-2n2a25s-de2fc1bb09f23a2b9418eb957405be7e hr-short  avia-builder-el-13  el_after_av_textblock  el_before_av_textblock  hr-center'><span class='hr-inner '><span class=\"hr-inner-style\"><\/span><\/span><\/div><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-kamcm7mr-f912c4db7bf970da409e63b2167f1cc9 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock av_inherit_color'  itemprop=\"text\" ><div id=\"attachment_22938\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22938\" class=\"wp-image-22938 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.iecd.org\/iecd2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/6u5a7120-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-22938\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A student of the Air Conditioner Maintenance course.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The IECD is committed to work and collaborate with different actors to further its missions in improving human capital. It has helped Syrian organizations to develop Vocational Training curricula in local schools. The IECD has also provided capacity-building training for local NGOs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Year after year, the IECD continues to accompany its beneficiaries throughout the journey from learning to securing employment. In the past two years alone, the beneficiaries have found over 500 jobs.
