Opportunities are there, as are job offers. But one problem remains: <b>there is a shortage of skilled workers<\/b>. Companies are struggling to recruit.<\/p>\n<p><b>In Fianarantsoa<\/b>, in the island&#8217;s highlands, <b>hundreds of young people dream of a better professional future<\/b> but remain on the sidelines of the labour market due to a lack of vocational training.<\/p>\n<p><b>La Rizi\u00e8re<\/b> hotel training centre was created to address this twofold challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2013, it has trained more than 400 young people in vulnerable situations, in partnership with the Coll\u00e8ge Saint-Fran\u00e7ois Xavier. Catering Training Centre (HCTC) was created in partnership with the local association Tak Border Child Assistance Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2011, more than 500 vulnerable young people have been trained in catering and baking in an environment that respects their culture and focuses on sustainable inclusion and integration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Two key programmes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>An 18-month technical training course<\/b> (cooking, service, pastry making) followed by a six-month internship in leading hotels<\/li>\n<li><b>Short, modular training courses<\/b>, co-designed with local NGOs, with a focus on employability through the development of life skills and preparation for employment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both programmes are based on <i>The Passport<\/i>, a training restaurant where young people learn in real-life conditions.
