of the population is between 15 and 35 years old[1], making youth at the core of the Government of Liberia\u2019s national priorities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">With support from the Government of France through the French Development Agency (AFD), the<\/span> <strong>STRIVE project<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> is and implemented by IECD. It focuses on supporting better access to employment and economic opportunities for youth<\/span> <strong>through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">. Agriculture weighs 34% of Liberia\u2019s 2017 GDP[2], and STRIVE also aims at increasing farmers\u2019 revenue through new agricultural practices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The IECD Liberia operations focus on:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1. Strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) stakeholders.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> 2. Improving the employability of young people.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> 3. Supporting the development of new agricultural value chains.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">During the 5 years of the project (2020-2025)\u00a0, IECD is looking to:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8211; Train 100 trainers to new pedagogical practices<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> &#8211; Support 8 training centers in improving their trainings<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> &#8211; Train 2,000 young trainees and help them find employment opportunities<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> &#8211; Train and follow-up on 300 farmers in the development of new practices in fish farming and market gardening.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">[1]
