A word from our director

"Get trained to act"

Men and women are at the heart of the development process. They are its essential purpose and its driving force. This belief was the fundamental reason for creating IECD, more than 20 years ago, in 1988. These essential values inspire the way the Organization carries out its projects and guarantee their impact's durability through time. We take into consideration all the individual factors which make up a person and offer adapted comprehensive training which is human, general, professional and social.

The IECD’s actions were first concentrated on a few “historic” countries - Cameroon, Lebanon and Madagascar, but quickly spread in the middle of the 1990s to many other countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Near East, and to quite a few countries in South-East Asia and Latin America.

To meet the requirements of emerging countries more adequately and to create closer links with partners IECD decided to strengthen its presence on the field by creating reprentative offices, first in Africa, then, in 2007, in Beirut for the Near East countries and eventually in Madagascar in 2010.

For IECD, partnerships are the key to successful projects: they ensure the transfer of skills and knowledge, the sharing of experiences and the handing-over of the development process to the beneficiaries. These partnerships created between IECD and local organizations are based on the total respect and awareness of local social and cultural diversities. All the involved parties understand their responsibility fully and report to the public and private funders and donors transparently.

My team and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our website which we hope offers you an insight into the different activities of IECD.
