The others sectors of intervention
The IECD is involved in two key sectors concerning socio-economic development in emerging countries, which are prerequisite to technical and vocational training.
Health: Strengthening the Capacities of Healthcare Structures. To compensate insufficient health and welfare offers in certain emerging countries, the IECD establishes programmes aiming to improve access to related structures and to promote health and welfare education. Training for health professionals, public health, optimal management of health and welfare structures are the key fields of the IECD actions.
Education: a Priority to Consider Before Vocational Training. In emerging countries, certain disadvantaged populations suffer from a lack of basic education, and thus cannot envisage any vocational training or future. To overcome this deficiency, the IECD is progressively setting up school support and specialized education projects, especially in the most disadvantaged regions and for the most marginalized populations.
