Technical and vocational training
Technical and vocational training, so intricately woven into the world of work, is one of the most efficient ways for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds of improving their chances of finding a job.
The IECD projects promote long-term technical and vocational training providing qualified personnel to high-growth employment sectors such as agriculture, hospitality management and catering, the craft industry, the health and welfare sector, management, electrical engineering fields and information technology.
The IECD is involved either at support level to existing structures who need to improve their pedagogical strategies (already-established professional training centres) or at set-up level, by creating training centres, for specific activities and sectors where no training is currently available.
In partnership with local economic bodies, the IECD is involved in on-going work adapting training to specific market requirements (upgrading or creating professional occupation guidelines and pedagogical handbooks, consolidating pedagogical teams’ skills and expertise, etc.). The technical and vocational training projects provide for guideline upgrades, teacher training, the construction of adapted buildings, professional material and equipment, management support, institutional strengthening, etc.
